Short form, I don’t think I’ll be back to this book for a long while.
Read on to find out why.
The story is that this is Steve Rogers “secret” Avengers team. They go out and conduct the missions that he doesn’t want the world to know about or suspect the Avergers to be doing. The team is not-Cap Steve Rogers, Black Widow, Sharon Carter and Moon Knight. But see, because they’re being all covert they don’t dress as heroes. Except for Moon Knight putting on his mask (which matches his white suit so well) and not-Cap having a big star on his chest.
The team is trying to stop… something. At first it looks to be drugs, then super drugs, and finally its demon gods within the bodies of men. In between the lady Avengers trying to whore it up, and Moon Knight meeting up with actual whores. Finally a big reveal and… its the Elder Gods. Its the Cthulhu mythos brought into Marvel Comics. Well, kind of, there’s a lot of things that can fit under the umbrella of “elder gods” in Marvel, but we’ll assume these are meant to be the Lovecraft kind.
And that’s about it. Whores and demons. I know this isn’t meant for kids, but it does have Avengers on the title. And there’s no way for any movie goer to pick this up, think it has anything to do with the Avengers film franchise, and be pleased. There’s no way for me as a long term comic reader to be pleased. I’m not against having a covert team of heroes. But the Avengers aren’t it.
Oh, and the guns that the heroes fire shoot poison. Yeah.
