Hey those of you who love horrible plots, negative female stereotypes and badly acted movies, there are better vampire stories out there! If you have a Twilight freak on your gift giving list, but you don’t want to give them more pasty white posters, then read on! All of these ideas should be easy to find at any DVD and/or bookstore chain.
Dracula by Bram Stroker.
Start with the original story. These kids should know where the legend of Dracula, and vampires as well, comes from. Also seeing a good Van Helsing might get that Hugh Jackman movie out of their heads. If your geek refuses to read (and reading Twilight does not necessarily mean they read books) then pick up the 1992 Bram Stroker’s Dracula flick. Really fucked up movie still, nearly 20 years later.
Stephen King doing vampire stories for Vertigo comics. Yeah, its all Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups of creepy stories.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
What the last generation of teenagers watched for their vampire fix. Great characters, well written, and full of important messages. Which means exactly the opposite of Twilight. Edward Bella and Jacob? Screw all that. Check out Buffy Angel and Spike.
