WWE Over the Limit 2012 Predictions.

I almost wrote the title of this article as Overt Limit.  And maybe overt is the way to go here.  WWE could always shock me, but I feel like I know where things are going here.  So why not give some predictions over to Solace Winter http://solacewinter.wordpress.com/

and then in a few days we’ll see how correct I am.  I have to say, this month’s prize of theme music has me excited.  I’ve used the same music for some of my work online for years and it might be time to freshen things up.  Not sure if I would lean towards something metal or nerdcore.  Ah well, probably best to win such a thing before debating how I want to use it.  Onto the predictions!

Zack Ryder vs. Kane

Am I falling asleep during the shows?  This is honestly the first time I heard this match was taking place.  Zack got his initial push that the internet demanded and then has been shit on and buried ever since.   Speaking of shit on and buried, Kane’s chokeslam needs to never be seen again.  If he’s going to put shitty work out there like the horrible match with Big Show then it needs to go away.  Now, who to blame?  Was it Kane or Show’s fault?  Probably both.  Anyways, Ryder will keep getting buried and Kane will get a bump up so he doesn’t look like a joke anymore.  This week.

Winner: Kane.

CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship

Match of the Year!  Seriously, I have such high expectations of this match.  No idea if I’ll be able to watch the show Sunday night or if it will be Monday, but no matter what I need to see this match.  I’m expecting some of the greatest wresting WWE has ever seen.  Remember, Punk got a 5 Star,  motherfucking Five STAR, match out of John Cena.  A man not known for his great wrestling skills.  This is Daniel Bryan.  A man who IS known around the world for his skills.  I cant remember the last time I was so excited for the potential of a match.  (Well I can, it was Davey Richards vs Kevin Steen from this past ROH Border Wars, but that’s not the point I was trying to make.)  However, D-Bryan’s skills aside I think Punk has this match.  He needs to be built up as the Best in the World.  Where ever the WWE title is going this year, Punk has to take it there.  It has to be dramatic.  The best has been beaten.  And to have that moment be dramatic Punk needs to build up impressive wins.  This will be among his most impressive.

Side note.  If I were to predict the next WWE champion it will be either Brock after this feud with Triple H.  Or Jericho will win Money in the Bank and cash it in on Punk.  Possibly that night too.

Winner: CM Punk.

Sheamus vs. Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton vs. Alberto Del Rio

Now this is the only thing that messes me up.  Jericho came back to be Best in the World.  And so far his return has been shit.  Nothing has worked out for him.  Del Rio is a bust.  And this just isn’t Orton’s year.  It might be best for Orton to film a movie (too soon?) or just take some time off.  He’s a man without a story, without any drama what so ever, for the year.  Really, Randy needs to turn heel in order to matter.  However turning heel within this match and using the dramatic still image of Raw while an announcer screams out “I cant believe Randy Orton is doing this!  No one should ever trust the Viper!” could lead to a great rematch and increased buys for the next show.  Sheamus chasing after the newly turned heel Randy Orton, and Randy fucking up Sheamus’s day repeatedly over the next few weeks?  That’s a story I’m excited for!

Winner:  Randy Orton.

Tie-breaker 1: Who pins who in the Fatal Fourway

Randy turns heel and pins Sheamus.

Layla vs. Beth Phoenix for the Divas Championship

Ugh. Just.  Ugh.  How do you fuck up beautiful women fighting?  Fuck it up to a point that no one has any desire to watch it?  Layla just came back and has been on TV a total of maybe 15 minutes.  Pinned one Bella, pinned the other, stared at Beth.  What a riveting character.  This is someone I want to spend money on!  Beth has made it very vocal that she is not happy with the Divas division.  Beth, the fans aren’t happy with it either!  Beth has been losing to Layla on the house show loops.  I wouldn’t be shocked if she’s out of WWE either when the next round of cuts happens or when her contract is up.  I’m all for building up a new Diva.  Especially one who is black, English, and really not the cookie cutter Diva style.  I just wish she had a character.  Give me a reason to care!  Unfortunately I really think Beth is on her way out and Layla needs to be put over.

Winner:  Layla

Kofi Kingston and R-Truth vs. Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger for the Tag Team Championship

Really.  If WWE was going to do anything with Dolph and Jack as tag team champions, wouldn’t they by now? Now if they want to start  a feud between these two teams and build up ZigSwag into a team, I’m all for it.  Make the tag titles mean something using these four great wrestlers.  Plus whatever is going on with Team AW.  There’s some great possibilites here.  But I think Kofi and Truth need to keep the titles a little longer so they can matter and any title change can matter as well.  Nothing against Epico and Primo, but they did nothing for the belts.

Winners: Kofi and Truth.

Tie-breaker 2: Who pins who in the tag match

Truth pins Swagger.

John Cena vs. John Laurinaitis

What the fuck is going on with John Cena?  He made that dramatic speech after Extreme Rules and yet here he is in this story.  And still on TV too.  He’s going through the divorce and is probably just burnt out as well.  But what point is there to any of this?  I think the only way to make any sense or predict anything here is to look at the stipulations:

If Laurinaitis loses, he will be fired. The only way to win is by pinfall or submission. No superstar or diva is allowed at ringside. If any superstar or diva interferes, he/she will be fired.

Well, Johnny wont be fired because they’re not done with what ever the fuck they’re doing with Teddy Long.  Nor is Teddy going to be in charge of both Raw and Smackdown next week.  Its the no interference part that intrigues me.  Big Show was fired.  Brock quit.  Eve may not be classified as a Diva anymore.  Numerous possibilities for interference.  All of which help out Lauinaitis.  (Big Show gets rehired the next night on Raw, but only because he helps Johnny win.)  Someone interferes on Johnny’s behalf, he then hires that person back into WWE the next night.  Cena will feud with that person and Johnny moves on to what the fuck ever.

Winner:  John Laurinaitis.
