2019 WWE Elimination Chamber Predictions.

Once again a non wrestler sits at home and tries to guess who will win and why at the most recent WWE event. I add my voice to the masses and hope it rises above some of them. Higher than those who think it’s real but lower than those who have verified checkmarks on Twitter.

Let’s get to it:

Buddy Murphy (Cruiserweight champion) vs. Akira Tozawa.

Pre show match. Get the crowd hyped up. Buddy has been doing a great job representing the brand and I just don’t see Akira as a challenger who has been built up enough. I think Buddy will keep the title until WrestleMania and someone will have enough momentum behind him to trigger a title change.

Winner: Buddy Murphy.

Braun Strowman vs. Baron Corbin.

It’s tough to take the current giant and give him so many flat storylines that fans lose interest in him. But that’s what has happened to Braun. No one has cared about Baron at any time, but that’s kind of his deal. A jerk heel that you’re supposed to hate everytime he comes out. And he’s good at that. But Braun should have been an unstoppable monster by now yet he’s more like a 1980’s cartoon giant who will never get the title while Hogan holds it. I think this story has run it’s course and Braun needs something different heading into WrestleMania.

Winner: Braun Strowman.

Bobby Lashley (Intercontinental champion) and Lio Rush vs. Finn Bálor.

This story though I think still has some wheels. Lio does a fantastic job as manager and has elevated Lashley’s character. Balor is rising up to that great face of Raw that he should be. Just a little more push behind him, a little more crowd support and he’s going to be unstoppable. I think this same match at Mania, maybe with a ladder too, would be a great time for a title change.

Winner: Bobby Lashley.

The Miz and Shane McMahon (Smackdown tag team champions) vs. The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso).

I mean, real life got in here didn’t it. Not the only time for that on this card either. Jimmy Uso recently got arrested during a drunken altercation and there’s just no way that he is rewarded with a tag team title the same week. I’m not sure where the Miz and Shane story is going anymore but I know this isn’t the end.

Winners: The Miz and Shane McMahon.

Ronda Rousey (Raw Women’s champion) vs. Ruby Riott.

Ruby is going to look great in the match. Get in enough offense, be a heel, sell like hell, but this is not going to be Ronda’s loss. The Becky Lynch story is too big and Rousey will continue to look strong until Mania.

Winner: Ronda Rousey.

Winners crowned the first ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions

Nia Jax and Tamina vs. The Riott Squad (Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan) vs. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville vs. The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) vs. Bayley and Sasha Banks vs. Naomi and Carmella.

Alright, so it won’t be Naomi and Carmella. Naomi was driving during her husband Jimmy Uso’s arrest. Carmella was just named as the other girl in WWE announcer Corey Graves’s affair. Again, not going to be awarded titles this week. I think Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville make the most sense going forward. Bayley and Sasha Banks have some weird story going on where Sasha keeps getting injured. My best guess is this is building to a one on one match. Ruby Riott won’t win her match so I don’t see her stable mates winning and holding that over her. The other two teams just don’t have a place to go next. But Mandy and Sonya could use this as a plot on the upcoming season of Total Divas. They could be firsts at something much like their former teammate Paige was the first at many things. Hell, we don’t even know what Paige’s new role in WWE is and she has her new movie out. Have Paige interfere in this match to give her friends the win and now there’s a revenge plot with the losing team.

Winners: Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.

For the WWE Championship (Smackdown):

Daniel Bryan (Champion) vs. AJ Styles vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton vs. Samoa Joe vs. Kofi Kingston.

I’m going to throw it out there. Up until last week I would have expected Daniel Bryan to hold the title until the summer, mostly because of his brand new eco friendly title. You don’t make someone a personalized belt just to have him lose it. But then Mustafa Ali got injured and Kofi Kingston was put in this match.  Then Kofi wrestled for over an hour straight in a gauntlet match on Smackdown and in one hour became the biggest babyface on Smackdown. The guy who fans have watched for over a decade getting the closest he’s ever come to winning the big prize. His passion in that match. Sweat and tears covering his face beckoning people to fight him because it is finally his chance. Chills. In one match he went from one third of the New Day to the babyface underdog fighting for a dream. He could win this and lose it on Smackdown or at Fastlane or a hundred other times before WrestleMania to still keep whatever Daniel Bryan’s plans for that event are. Sometimes in life an unplanned detour leads to treasure and I think that’s exactly what WWE stumbled into here.

Winner and NEW WWE Champion: Kofi Kingston.
