From Oxford:
Ephemera:
things that exist or are used or enjoyed for only a short time.
items of collectible memorabilia, typically written or printed ones, that were originally expected to have only short-term usefulness or popularity
Is there anything that screams short term more than the media and hobbies that I am interested in? Golden Age comics are rare because people viewed them as disposable. Wrestling has 10-20 new TV hours from the major promotions every week, plus numerous independent shows. Mainstream pop culture hasn’t paid attention to rock and metal since the 1990’s and discounts anything currently released. The excitement of thrift stores and yard sales is to discover or rediscover that which someone – maybe even you or your parent – sent to the trash decades earlier.
And, to be honest, I know Stan Lee had “Excelsior” and “Ephemera” sounds like a nice way for me to echo his mentality. The idea of being a mascot and cheerleader for things other people say doesn’t matter.
I’m going to write when I can. Still the same crazy topics. And as I build this back up you’ll see things like vintage work, new takes, links to other sites I’m friends with and enjoy. If I’m happy with it all this will move to a dot com and expand more.
Any questions about all of this, please leave a comment or DM me across social media.
