Every time there is a pay per view event, I post what I think will happen. Who will win based on where I think the larger WWE story lines are going. And I’m going to try to do that again here.
But, rumors are that the WWE, NXT, and AEW talent have been exposed to COVID again and there are many positive cases. Some talent have already come forward and announced they have tested positive. Others weren’t on TV this week when they should have been to continue stories. So some of these matches might not happen as advertised. Also, some stories might have to change if talent involved is not cleared to perform.
This is the current card as of early afternoon today.
Asuka (Raw womens champion) vs. Zelina Vega. (Pre show match)
I love Vega. Big fan. But there is just no way she’s defeating Asuka. Especially not on a pre show match.
Winner: Asuka.
Drew McIntyre (Raw World champion) vs. Randy Orton. Ambulance match.
I think Drew is doing well and deserves more time for his title run. I also think Orton has already had the spotlight enough times. But, WWE is also in a down time for good stories and of course no fans allowed. There’s a part of me that wouldn’t be shocked to see Drew get blamed for low ratings. But I’m hoping he’s given more time to show what he can do on top.
Winner: Drew McIntyre.
Roman Reigns (Smackdown world champion) (with Paul Heyman) vs. Jey Uso.
This is a heck of a story. But no way in hell does WWE put this title on Jey Uso.
Winner: Roman Reigns.
Bayley (Smackdown womens champion) vs. Nikki Cross.
This match is already rumored to not happen. Between Bayley’s feud with Sasha Banks and Nikki’s story with Alexa Bliss there is no reason to do a title change here. If this match happens.
Winner: Bayley.
Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler (Womens tag team champions) vs Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan.
I love the Riott Squad and initially I wanted to say they’ll lose. But I don’t see another title changing hands tonight, and one has to. So I’m going to say this will be the surprise of the evening.
Winner and new champions: The Riott Squad.
Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura (Smackdown tag team champions) vs. Lucha House Party (Kalisto, Gran Metalik, and/or Lince Dorado).
This might be a hell of a match. One team are great wrestlers and heels. The other team jumps around a lot and pops a crowd, when there is one, with the opening match. I also think there could be a good change later in the night.
Winners: Cesaro and Nakamura.
Jeff Hardy (Intercontinental champion) vs. AJ Styles vs. Sami Zayn in a Ladder Match
This will decide the undisputed Intercontinental champion. I said earlier I only saw one title change, and this wouldn’t really count as a title change. I think with Retribution, plus Sami’s valid claims he never lost the title, he should win this match. There’s more story to tell there than there is with Hardy or Styles.
Winner: Sami Zayn.
The Street Profits (Raw tag team champions) vs. Andrade and Angel Garza.
Again, I just don’t see these two winning the titles tonight. Entertaining talent. Anyone paired with Zelina Vega is great. But I don’t think the tag ranks are where either man belong.
Winners: Street Profits.
Bobby Lashley (US champion) vs Apollo Crews.
I think the Hurt Business needs some more time to grow. Hold more titles, and hold them longer. Maybe even grow in numbers. I see someone else turning during this match too. Maybe Ricochet.
Winner: Bobby Lashley.
We’ll see later tonight how many of these I guessed correctly. Let me know your predictions too.
