Welcome to another pay per view prediction post. As I try to do with most events, I look at the matches and guess who will win and why. Not who I want to win, but who I think makes the most sense to win in order to progress stories. Or with the case of WrestleMania, sometimes this is the culmination of a story.

This year’s WrestleMania takes place over two nights, Saturday and Sunday, so I will break the predictions up into two posts. I’m writing both of these Friday night so if something from Saturday changes Sunday’s card I’ll try to adjust that.

Bobby Lashley (Raw World Champion) (with MVP) vs Drew McIntyre.

As of Friday night, this is supposed to be the first match on night one. WWE has spent years building up Lashley to this level. He just won the title. They’re not done with him yet.

Winner and still champion: Bobby Lashley.

Bad Bunny and Damian Priest vs the Miz and John Morrison.

No way they bring in Bad Bunny, have him with the 24/7 title, and then make him lose at Mania. It makes zero sense for the one main stream cross over appeal match.

Winners: Bad Bunny and Damian Priest.

The New Day (Raw tag team champions) vs AJ Styles and Omos.

Yesterday I was guessing that this match opens the show, and because of that I thought New Day would retain. Now that I know this isn’t the opening match I think WWE pushes Omos as a beast who won the tag team titles in his first match.

Winners and new champions: AJ Styles and Omos.

Braun Strowman vs Shane McMahon in a Steel Cage match.

There is no positive to Shane winning. If Shane wins, Braun drops down the card. Former world champion and Intercontinental champion losing to a once a year wrestler? In a cage match? Unless Braun is about to leave for another company, which I doubt, there’s no reason to have Shane win.

Winner: Braun Strowman.

Cesaro vs Seth Rollins.

I hope this is finally Cesaro’s shot. Rollins loses nothing by losing a match. He can always be put into a main event with minimal build up. But he would be a great person to raise Cesaro up to that next level. Hopefully tonight is that moment because if not tonight, I don’t think it will ever happen.

Winner: Cesaro.

Lana and Naomi vs. Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose vs. The Riott Squad (Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott) vs. Natalya and Tamina vs. Billie Kay and Carmella. Winners receive a Women’s Tag Team title match on Night 2.

I can see any team winning. Lana and Naomi would really make the most sense. But I’m torn with the new team of Billie Kay and Carmella. Billie has been amazing in her current role and I think her bringing another title to Carmella would elevate both of them and bring some entertainment to the women’s titles. All of that said, Lana finally winning a big match and proving she belongs is a WrestleMania moment.

Winners: Lana and Naomi.

Sasha Banks (Smackdown women’s champion) vs Bianca Belair.

Speaking of WrestleMania moments. There is no way Bianca doesn’t win. Her Royal Rumble performance was amazing. She is holding her own against everyone. She would be a fresh face on top. Much like many other male talents that we all decided it’s their time to win, there is no better time than now to put that title on Bianca.

Winner and new champion: Bianca Belair.
