WWE Clash at the Castle 2022 Predictions

The Labor Day wrestling weekend begins! There are three major shows over the next three days plus many more independent wrestling shows that you can watch on IWTV or Fite. What better way to start the American holiday than with a live event from Cardiff, Wales! This will be the first major PPV in England in 30 years and the first PPV of any kind in nearly 20. There is a lot that fans are assuming will happen on this show and we’re all excited to see this next chapter in WWE. These are my predictions based on where I think WWE stories are going. Not who I want or hope will win, but who I think will win to advance the greater narrative.

Roman Reigns (Undisputed WWE Universal champion) vs Drew McIntyre.

Roman needs to lose one if not both of the titles. Rumors are that at least USA Network wants a world champion on every show. Drew is the hometown boy. All signs point to a title change. My guess is there will be a confusing disputable ending and the result will be that the titles are separated. Drew gets one, Roman gets one. Two referees counting different shoulders down. Interference. Bad camera angle. Drew will win and get the accolades of his countrymen but by Raw the titles will be in flux and separated shortly after.

Winner in some way shape or form: Drew McIntyre.

Liv Morgan (Smackdown women’s champion) vs Shayna Baszler.

I was excited when Liv won, love the story, she’s charismatic as hell. But Shayna has this. World beater Shayna sounds like a Triple H idea and would lead to more interesting matches for the next few months on Smackdown. All of which should culminate with Shayna vs Ronda Rousey.

Winner and new champion: Shayna Baszler.

Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, and Asuka vs. Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Sky.

Damage Control, Control, CTRL, or whatever name WWE eventually copyrights has to win. It was a shock that they did not win the women’s tag team titles on Monday. For this group to continue to look like a threat, they need to win here.

Winner: Bayley’s in Control.

Matt Riddle vs Seth “Freaking” Rollins.

I did not care about this match at all but Monday’s Raw had some real fun things happen. This will be a good fight and I hope it goes all over the place. Really go nuts out there. Seth doesn’t have the best win loss record this year and could use the victory here. Also, Seth winning from a villainous act could prolong this feud now that it’s getting good.

Winner: Seth Rollins.

Gunther (Intercontinental champion) (with Ludwig Kaiser) vs. Sheamus (with The Brawling Brutes (Ridge Holland and Butch)).

Honestly tough because both men make sense to win this match. In the end I’m going with Sheamus because he has never won the Intercontinental title. He just needs the win to claim that honor for his career. He can lose it back, probably to Gunther, by Smackdown. I don’t know how many years Sheamus has left as an active wrestler but it’s definitely less than Gunther. Gunther can win this title again, Sheamus might not.

Winner and new champion: Sheamus.

Edge and Rey Mysterio (with Dominik Mysterio) vs. The Judgment Day (Finn Bálor and Damian Priest) (with Rhea Ripley).

There’s only one way for this to end, right? Dominik turns on his father and causes The Judgment Day to win. Maybe he even tries to join them and they shut him down. Now he’s a young man without a home. Or maybe Rhea toys with him for a while. WWE is definitely embarrassing the online thirst for their interactions. Gives Finn a close to home victory too.

Winners: The Judgment Day.

This show starts at 1PM EST on Saturday. I’m guessing about a 3 hour show. I might watch it Saturday or wait until Sunday and make a day of watching wrestling. Let me know your thoughts and guesses and we’ll see who’s right at the end of the day.
